Main Purpose of Job

 

1.       To be registered with CQC as the registered manager of the Branch.

2.       To ensure that the day to day care services are operated in accordance with the latest Health & Safety legislation.

3.       To conform to the UKHCA and GSCC code of professional conduct in relation to the operation of our Domiciliary Care Service.

4.       To organise and operate the branch in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures

5.       To ensure that each service user receives care appropriate to their individual need.

6.       To ensure that each care worker is correctly recruited, trained and appropriately deployed, and supervised

7.       To implement the requirements of the National Minimum Standards for Domiciliary Care published in accordance with the Care Standards Act 2000.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

1.       Registration with CQC

  • To be fully aware of the standards and regulations published by CQC
  • To maintain up to date knowledge of the requirements
  • To attain & maintain the qualifications required for the job
  • To liaise with and co-operate with CQC inspectors and inspections
  • To keep abreast of all new developments in Health and Social Care and of the philosophies and policies of the contracting authority, and to communicate the same to all staff.

 

2.       Management of the Branch

·         To operate the branch in accordance with agreed operating and financial plans,

·         To keep abreast of all new developments in Health and Social Care and of the philosophies and policies of the contracting authority, and to communicate the same to all staff.

·         To organise the routines of the branch in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures.

·         To maintain cordial and correct relationship with all contracting authorities, and actively promote the business of the organisation

·         To maintain the physical environment and ensure the security of the premises

·         To ensure that legislation and regulations concerning health and safety including fire regulations are complied with and to advise the line manager if any action is required

·         To maintain accurate and complete written and computerised record keeping, including timesheet, call logging authorisation and all internal/ external reporting on a timely basis

·         To ensure that adequate accounting and financial records are in operation

·         To participate in all management meetings and relevant training sessions 

·         To ensure that the rostering of all Service User visits to care staff is completed and rosters despatched on a weekly basis

·         To ensure that the daily ‘duty desk’ and the out-of-hours ‘on call’ are appropriately manned at all times

·         To be flexible and available at all times in support of staff and the ‘on call’, particularly for in emergency situations

 

3.     Service User Care

·         To ensure that the emotional, spiritual, physical, and material needs of the service users are recognised, assessed and met in conjunction with the service user, family and relevant professional agencies and develop a care plan which provides a satisfactory quality of life for that person.

·         To provide all relevant information to prospective new service users and to make appointments to visit and assess their needs, on a regular basis in accordance with CSCI requirements

·         To decide whether or not the branch is able to meet the personal care needs of any prospective service user and to negotiate an appropriate fee with the purchasing authority or the service user or the service user’s family

·         To ensure that each new service user receives a written copy of the ‘Statement of Purpose and Service User Guide’ and ensure that each service user and, where appropriate, their representative understands them, including complaints procedures

·         To investigate complaints, take appropriate action and report to the line manager and/or the CSCI (all on a timely basis)

·         To provide emergency cover for the branch when necessary including participating in the on-call rota.

·          

4.       Staff Matters

·         To recruit, appoint and deploy care, office and domestic staff

·         To ensure good communication with and between staff and to arrange regular(quarterly) general staff meetings

·         To ensure that adequate arrangements for the introduction of care workers to service users.

·         To ensure that effective induction, regular supervision, assessment and appraisal of staff is carried out and that training needs are identified and met in accordance with CSCI requirements, as a minimum.

·         To ensure that employment protection legislation is implemented

 

5.       Any other responsibilities as the registered provider deems appropriate.
